Astrid Kruitwagen received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biology at Wageningen University, The Netherlands. In 2016 she started her PhD in Groningen at the Groningen Institute for Evolutionary Life Sciences. Her research is in the field of evolutionary biology, biological control and entomology: she is developing alternatives to pesticides, to control invasive pest species. Apart from her passion for research and biology, she is also passionate about science communication and organizing events. Hence, she joined the organizing committee of the PhD Day 2018, and as head of program, she hopes to further develop herself and to make, together with her team, a diverse and inspiring program for this event.
“As Head of Program, I hope to put together a program that helps and inspires PhD students to complete their PhD journey and that gives them tools for their future career.”
