Els van Rooij studied Educational Sciences in Groningen and after having worked as an educational consultant and as a teacher at universities of applied sciences in different cities in the Netherlands she returned to Groningen in 2013 to do her PhD about the transition from secondary education to university. Next to that, she is active in the university-wide PhD student organisation Gopher and in the PhD council of the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences. In March 2017 she also started working on a longitudinal research project that aims to gain more insight into what factors explain PhD students’ successful and timely completion of their thesis.
“My main goal as a member of the PhD Day Program team is to help set up a program that is interesting for PhD students of all disciplines.”
