Petra Rudolf is Dean of Graduate Studies of the University of Groningen and a professor of Experimental Solid State Physic at the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials. She specialized in Solid State Physics during her universities studies and moved into the field of Surface Physics as a research fellow. Prof. dr. Rudolf has worked in multiple laboratories in several countries (Italy, U.S.A., Belgium, Netherlands) and is a member of the Executive Board of the Dutch Physics Counsel. Her illustrious career include being president of the Belgian Physical Society, elected president of the European Physical Society for the Biennium, and working as an consultant to the Europeans Commission for assistance and monitoring of contracts in materials science. She has also been appointed Officer of the Order of Orange Nassau by H.M. Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands in 2013. Before becoming Dean of Graduate studies at the university of Groningen, she was Director of the Graduate school of science and Engineering at the University of Groningen for 4 years. During her talk, Prof. dr. Rudolf will talk about the different options for a post-PhD career and how to navigate the post-PhD landscape.
