Workshop: The European struggle with personal data protection.
The information age requires a legal framework to both protect the people and to enable the necessary processing of personal data by scientific institutes and companies. Koen Konings will shed a light on how Europe struggles to try and find a delicate balance between opposing interests. His
exciting workshop will tackle topics like the origins of privacy, the necessity to protect private life and the current European rules known as the ‘GDPR’ or the ‘General Data Protection Regulation’.

Koen Konings is an attorney-at-law who tackles IT law, Privacy law and Intellectual Property law at NORD Advocaten in Groningen. He also teaches IT Law at the University of Groningen and is a renowned speaker in his fields of law.
