Sofia Sheveleva obtained her bachelor degree at the Cell biology department of Moscow State University (Russia). In her bachelor thesis she studied cooperation between mitochondria and intermediate filaments in mammalian cells. Moving to the Netherlands for the Medical and Pharmaceutical Drug Innovation master program at the University of Groningen, she enjoyed the international atmosphere of Groningen and its stimulating environment. She liked this beautiful city as much as to start a PhD degree in January 2018 here, in UMCG, working out the role of pre-leukemic mutations in aging. In her spare time, she has fun ice skating and playing the violin.
