Petra Rudolf “Women in technical careers”

Prof. dr. Petra Rudolf is Professor of Experimental Solid State Physics at the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials of the University of Groningen, where she is head of the Surfaces and Thin Films group. In her research, Petra examines special forms of carbon and how they interact with metals. In 2008, she and her team (the SynNanoMotor consortium) won the Descartes-award – the most prestigious European Union research prize- for their pioneering work in the field of synthetic molecular motors and artificial nanomachines. Also, because of her excellent research, Petra was the first female Dutch physicist to be elected as Fellow of the American Physical Society. If you want to hear more about how to become a successful woman in a technical career in academia or industry, make sure to visit her talk at the 2017 PhD Day!
